Lima, October 10, 2025 – At 1:00 a.m., after an intense session in Congress, José Enrique Jerí Oré was sworn in as President of the Republic of Peru, following the impeachment of Dina Boluarte Zegarra.

During his oath, Jerí Oré pledged to govern “in accordance with the Political Constitution of Peru, defending national sovereignty, the moral integrity of the Republic, and the independence of democratic institutions,” and to fulfill his mandate until July 28, 2026.

In his first address as Head of State, Jerí Oré said he assumed the presidency “with humility and by constitutional succession,” with the purpose of leading a government of empathy and national reconciliation. He called for unity to build “a broad-based administration grounded on shared national agreements.”

Jerí acknowledged Peru’s ongoing political instability, pointing out that recent governments have failed to complete their terms, leaving institutions weakened and citizens disillusioned.
He offered an apology to the population for the political turbulence and promised to “begin rebuilding trust and laying the foundations of a reconciled nation.”

“We must start sowing those foundations today,” he said, pledging to promote dialogue, institutional reform, and renewed citizen confidence.

🛡️ Declares War on Crime

In a firm message, President Jerí Oré announced a national war against crime, describing it as “the main problem currently affecting the country.”
He called on the National Police, the Armed Forces, the Judiciary, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office to unite in a coordinated effort to “not only declare war on crime but win it once and for all.”

He also committed to ensuring transparent and lawful general elections, guaranteeing “legality, cleanliness, order, and neutrality” in the upcoming electoral process.

“Today, the eyes of the world are on Peru,” Jerí stated, “not only because of the constitutional succession we have witnessed, but because our nation now has the opportunity to become the country it was always meant to be.”
